This is an African folk tale about the infamous
"Anansi the Spider." There are many stories
about Anansi...this one is about how the moon
came to be in the sky. Anansi gets into trouble
and his sons form a rescue party...They save
him, and Anansi wants to reward the one who
saved him...but who saved him?
(They all did.) So the reward, the moon, ends up in the sky.
I
have adored the Berenstain Bears since
childhood. Luckily for children these days,
there's a whole new wave of B.B. books! They're
very inexpensive, and come in every topic your
child will ever face...this one is a great one
about first days of kindergarten.
A
cute story about a toddler who goes blueberry
picking with mom, while at the same time a momma
bear and baby bear are out blueberry hunting and
the two babies get switched...It's also very fun
on tape!
I
think this is my favorite Frances book...it's
about how Frances won't eat anything but bread &
jam, won't try anything new. So mom feeds her
bread & jam for breakfast/lunch/dinner and even
snacks...until she finally gets sick of it and
broadens her horizons. Very cute!
This is a touching story of a little girl who
rescues a caterpillar & decides to raise it to
adulthood. With the help of her grandpa, she
builds a beautiful "Butterfly House," & cares
for the caterpillar as it goes through it's
metamorphosis. A great book for introducing the
concepts of metamorphosis & caring for nature's
creatures. And the illustrations are beautiful,
as all Eve Bunting's books are!
