I
love the pictures in this book! This book is
just like "The House that Jack Built," in the
repetition and adding on of lines...Very good
for having children recite along! And there's a
sleepy feel to it...good for bedtime?
I
bought this after Christmas one year on the
clearance shelf at Target...what a find! It's
about a family who goes to find a Christmas
tree...but the catch is, that they LEAVE the
tree where it is! They decorate it with edible
things, and celebrate Christmas as a family in
the woods, then go home, to let the animals have
their Christmas. I just love this idea....I
actually did this as a child, when we lived in
the back country of NC...and it really is a good
feeling to do something for the animals! What a
terrific way to teach your kids about respect
for all life!
Eve Bunting is
another favorite author of mine...check out all
her wonderful books!
This one is always a hot seller in bookstores
around graduation time. Very appropriate for
young adults venturing into the world for the
first time...But also fun for kids of all ages!
I
got this book to review from
Dawn Publications, and its really neat! The
illustrations are just STUNNING! This book has
pages that build on each other just as you see
in books like the House that Jack Built, the
Napping House, etc...In this book you get a very
close view of life "On One Flower". Children
learn all about life on a flower in a field, and
all the bugs and creatures that depend upon that
one flower.
I
got this book to review from
Dawn Publications after we already had "Over
in the Ocean" (below)...so I was already
familiar with the illustrations...and in love
with it! :) Its just as fabulous as the ocean
version! There's all the same kind of activities
and tips and info at the end of this book. Its a
keeper, just like the other!
I
got this book to review from
Dawn Publications. I find this book to be so
fascinating! It's pictures are made with polymer
clay! I could sit and look at the pictures for
hours! Really exquisitely done! And it's a
different take on the "Over in the Meadow" book
which I also love...this one with an ocean spin.
This is a book has such a lovely lilt to it when
you read it aloud to children. I like the rhythm
of it. And I love that it is about ocean
animals. At the end of the book there is the
tune of the song to sing with the book, some
fingerplays to do with it, facts about the
animals in the book, and even a little about how
the pictures were created. Fascinating! I just
can't get enough of this book! It's so fun to
read and so fun to look at!
This
book was given to me to review and I found it
quite good! I myself have never been
particularly into poetry, but understand the
value of it, particularly for children. This
book is a great way to share good quality poetry
with children! My mom was just tickled to see so
many poems she remembers from her childhood and
it even is getting me to enjoy poetry more! The
cd helps bring the verses to life, and the
pictures are just wonderful! If you enjoy
poetry, and even if you don't, I recommend
checking out this book!
