This book has MAGNIFICENT illustrations! It's
what made me pick it up in the first place...but
it's also a cute story. Similar to all the other
stories of couples wanting children, but not
being able to have them...This one is about a
couple who find miniature "rainbabies" one day
(similar to Tom Thumb, or Thumbelina?)...of
course, they care for them and love them as if
they were their own (normal sized)
children...until...well, let's just say it has a
happy ending!
The
illustrations in this book are what drew me to
it! They're absolutely GORGEOUS! One of the most
beautifully illustrated books I've ever seen!
And the story is FANTASTIC also, luckily...it's
a Chumash (Native American) creation legend. I
used to use this book when I took 6th graders
(at SCICON), to the "Rainbow Bridge!" (an arched
bridge at a beautiful spot over Bear Creek.)
They always seemed impressed with the pictures,
& thought the story was neat too!
